When it comes to fashion trends it’s never too early to look to the future. The 2016/17 fashion forecast is multifaceted, to say the least. Four styles were featured on this year’s runway that made a bold statement about the future of the fashion industry: historical romanticism, modernistic simplicity, retro-sports, and a new twist on athleisure-wear. Advances in technology, the creation of new textiles, innovative color trends, and bold patterns have inspired designers to look both back in history as well as far into the future in order to create products that are the first of their kind in the industry.
In the past, people drawn to the look of the Victorian era or Gothic apparel appeared as though they had stepped right out of a historical painting. Finally, the increased interest in athleisure-wear has returned with a cozier, softer, just-got-out-of-bed feel that takes on a classier romantic look that has been termed “the ultimate in city chic.” It’s all about combining elongated layers of plush fabrics with soft tones which is sure to be a huge hit this coming season.

In a recent article for Michigan Live, Dick DeVos was featured regarding his announcement of a new CEO to head The Stow Company Inc., which is a top company in the home storage and organizational products industries. Phil Dolci will succeed Frank Newman, who is retiring at the latest CEO. It appears that The Stow Company will be in capable hands, given Dolci’s many years of experience in the consumer products manufacturing and marketing industries. Dolci previously served as the CEO of Crosman Corporation, which is a top manufacturer and supplier of shooting products based in Cincinnati. Dick DeVos is quoted as praising Dolci’s leadership abilities and expertise in the industry and says that he looks forward to the company’s growth with Dolci at the helm.
DeVoshas built quite the reputation as an entrepreneur and businessman based in Michigan. He comes from a long family background of prominent businessmen in the Michigan area, including his father, Richard DeVos, who served as the CEO of Amway and was one of the co-founders of the consumer goods distribution company. DeVos followed in his father’s prestigious footsteps at Amway and served as the CEO of the company from 1993 through 2002. Since then, DeVos has embarked upon an extremely successful series of business ventures, which have netted him an impressive net worth of approximately $5.1 billion. According to Forbes magazine, this made DeVos the 67th richest person in the world in 2012.
In addition to his many business ventures in Michigan, DeVos is also extremely active in politics and community issues. He served on the Michigan State Board of Education in 1990 and ran for governor of Michigan in 2006. DeVos has served as a strong voice in advocating for the local economy in Michigan and supports various educational reform causes through his own philanthropic work as well as consistent political advocacy.
DeVos currently serves as the president of the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation, which is a charitable organization based out of Michigan that works to promote education, the arts, community organization and free-market economic policies. He helped to launch the first public aviation public charter high school, the West Michigan Aviation Academy, in the fall of 2010. One of DeVos’ lifelong passions has been flying, and he is able to share that passion with today’s youth through the West Michigan Aviation Academy. He says is is also proud that the academy is a public charter school.
In a recent video interview with Kavit Majithia of Mobile World Live, President of FreedomPop, Nicholas Constantinopoulos, explained the new platform and some of the business model in detail. The free mobile data network has gained in popularity and momentum in a pretty brief time frame. This is largely due to their successful test launch in the UK. With the platform’s customers now being at a 40% conversion rate. This is the percentage of people who decide to upgrade their service. It is quickly gaining speed in the US as well, with the market growing daily in their favor. This is a trend that is not dying out.
Clearly people want lower data charges on their bills. FreedomPop wants to be that data provider. The niche here is the free data plan. What keeps the company growing is the conversion of customers to payed data plans. There is never a contract, which comes as a relief to every customer. But, there is of course always the option to upgrade your plan. The company has continued it’s trend of value for bucks by offering unlimited data for $5 a month. Through the FreedomPop app, customers can have access to 10 million hot spots in the US alone. Some spots are not for the general public to use however.
This was during the last quarter of 2015. The number of hot spots is more like 25 million at this point. The network will be sure to include locations like McDonald’s, Best Buy, Starbucks and more. They are looking to expand the platform as far as their reach will allow. Investors have been more than happy to back the company as well. With the company’s recent fifty million dollar acquisition, followed by another $30 million. The company is not hurting for cash. They are making every move to expand on this.
